This event will be held at 0800 (8:00 AM) on 22 June, 2013 at the Tellico - TVA Boat Ramp between the Fort Loudon Dam and the Tellico Bridge at the intersection of the TN 321 and Tellico Parkway County Road 444. Entering the area take the immediate right and follow the signs to parking. Parking will be in the grass areas to the left and right of the road leading to the pavilion. Bearden HS NJROTC and the SMSD thank you for your participation in this event.

Each Smoky Mountain Service Dog puppy is hand selected by our trainers and the majority will come from reputable breeders. Appropriate shelter/rescue dogs may also be considered.

Our CanDoo is off to Western Kentucky University for handler training. CanDoo will split his time between the University's Kelly Autism Program and the Veteran Affairs Department. Shown above is CanDoo's foster parents, Dr. Tami Wyatt, Maureen Keyes, Eileen Reed, and Gail Alexander. CanDoo will provide great comfort and love to the autistic children and the Veteran students. Thanks to all volunteers and trainers for helping CanDoo grow his service capabilities. Got to love this dog.
On behalf of Smoky Mountain Service Dogs, Marine Cody Evans and his SMSD "Willie" accept donations totaling $25,000 from Marine Eric Barton, President and CEO of Vanquish Worldwide and his wife Mechelle on behalf of LexLin Gypsy Horse Ranch. This wonderful donation paid for the training of "Willie" for Cody and will also cover the total training cost to provide another Smoky Mountain Service Dog to a Wounded Warrior. Assisting Marine Evans is Mike Kitchens, Volunteer Chair of SMSD.
Smoky Mountain Service Dogs was honored to be invited to the Autism Camp at the Center for Courageous Kids, a clinical camp for children with debilitating and terminal illnesses. In attendance were thirty one autistic children and their families from Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana. Please check out their website link on our home page. Our beautiful service dog "Bella"was a big hit.
In March, the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta reported that 1 in every 50 school children suffer from autism. That is more than 1 million U.S. School Children.
In January of this year NBC News reports that for the first 11 months of 2012, 177 active duty military personnel took their own lives. That is more than the 176 combat related fatalities. Army suicides have increased 54% since 2007 when 115 took their own lives.
